Shopping, Payment and Travel Apps

Forty-three apps across eight sub-topics: big-box retail, fashion, cross-border marketplaces, local resale, membership warehouses, payments and banking, getting around, and travel. In this category the useful question is rarely what an app can do. It is who holds the money, who holds the parcel, and who answers when one of the two goes missing.

How we read a shopping app before describing it

Shopping apps are commercially load-bearing in a way that most tools are not. The listing you saw at 09:00 may be out of stock by noon, the seller may be in another country, and the checkout may be offering credit without using that word. So we describe the structure of the transaction rather than the feature list: who fulfils, who is liable, and where the payment actually sits.

Every Dlzer page linked below carries a data block taken from the store listing we checked, including the date of that check. Those figures are the vendor’s published numbers at one moment in time, which is why we point at the page instead of averaging four of them into a score on this hub.

We also publish our own mess. The archive contains several pages describing the same app under different titles because the site was built before it had a deduplication rule. Where two of those pages sit in this hub, they are adjacent and labelled as the duplicate pair they are.

  1. Who fulfils the order. A store’s own shop, a third-party seller, a warehouse club, a gig driver or a freight forwarder. This determines your delivery window far more reliably than any advertised promise.
  2. Where the money sits during the transaction. Held by the platform, paid straight to a stranger, charged to a card, or converted into an instalment plan you owe.
  3. What protection exists, if any. Buyer protection programmes are conditional, usually on keeping the conversation and the payment inside the app. Plain-text classifieds offer none.
  4. Whether the price you see is the price you pay. Import handling, delivery fees, seller shipping labels and platform commissions all live outside the headline number.
  5. Which account the app depends on. A membership, an airline ticket, a store loyalty account, a bank partner or a commerce-platform order feed. Without it the app is a brochure.
  6. Whether we are describing two pages for one app. Stated plainly, in the entry, rather than left for you to notice.
What we do not doWe are not Walmart, Target, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shein, Temu, Afterpay, PayPal, Venmo, Chime, Uber, Lyft, Delta, Tripadvisor, Yelp or any other trademark owner on this page, and we are not authorised to speak for them. Marks appear only to identify the software being described. No listing was paid for, and no affiliate commission is earned from these links.

The big-box and department-store apps, and what each one is really for

6 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

A supermarket app is not a catalogue; it is a scheduling tool. Pickup windows, delivery partners, curbside codes and returns labels all live in the account, and that is what makes one worth keeping on a home screen. We describe each entry by the job it does at the till, not by how many products it lists.

The second pattern in this group is locality. Two of these apps show real stock only for the store you can drive to, and one is a tracker that depends on which commerce platform your sellers happen to use.

Walmart

The Walmart storefront with pickup and delivery where a local store supports either. The pickup code, the receipt history and the returns label all live in the same account, which is the practical reason people keep it installed.store pickup

Target

Target ordering, drive-up collection and account perks, with the mix of features depending on the nearest store. Same-day delivery arrives through a partner rather than Target drivers.store pickup

Best Buy: Shop tech deals

Best Buy product pages with local store stock shown per item, plus the option to book time with a specialist before buying expensive hardware.stock aware

Belk – Shopping App

A regional department-store storefront with instalment options presented at checkout. Read the credit terms there rather than in the marketing.instalments at checkout

Academy Sports + Outdoors

Hunting, fishing, sporting-goods and outdoor inventory where stock is genuinely regional, so the app is mostly a lookup tool for the store you can drive to.regional stock

Shop

An order tracker tied to stores running that commerce platform: purchases arrive in one feed with delivery status. Its usefulness scales with how many of the shops you already buy from are on that platform.order tracker

Section 3

Fashion apps, where the interesting part is fit, fulfilment and lead time

6 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

Clothing is the category where a picture tells you the least. Sizing runs differently between suppliers, cross-border orders arrive weeks later, and a sneaker retailer whose store estate has been restructured may not be the business that packs your box. We flag those three things rather than repeat the marketing copy.

Note also that the archive carries two pages for the same fast-fashion retailer. That is a duplication problem on our own site, so it belongs in the open here rather than hidden between two sections.

ABOUT YOU Online Fashion Shop

European fashion retailer with a personalised feed and size-led filtering. Delivery and returns to North America cost more than the in-region experience suggests.EU retailer

adidas: Shop Shoes & Clothing

The brand storefront, where member accounts matter more than the catalogue: release windows and member pricing are the reason the app exists.member account

boohooMAN: Shop Men’s Clothing

Men’s fast fashion, mirroring the web catalogue with price alerts pushed to the phone. Sizing varies between items, which is normal for the category and worth reading in the reviews rather than assuming.fast fashion

Finish Line: Shop new sneakers

A sneaker retailer whose physical estate has been restructured in recent years, so the useful detail on an order is which business is actually fulfilling it.check fulfilment

SHEIN

A very large catalogue priced for speed, with the two trade-offs that define the category: long delivery windows and fit that you should not assume matches your usual size.long lead time

SHEIN-Shopping Online

The second page Dlzer holds for the same retailer, published under its longer store listing title. One retailer, two pages, both linked deliberately.duplicate listing

Section 4

Marketplaces and cross-border ordering, where the price is not the whole cost

8 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

Marketplace apps shift responsibility onto you in ways a normal store does not. When the seller is overseas you become the importer of record, the delivery window widens to weeks, and a return can cost more than the item. When the seller is an individual craftsperson, the terms are set listing by listing and vary inside the same app.

Wholesale is different again: one of the eight entries below is a business-to-business sourcing tool where quantities are negotiated and there is frequently no buy-now button at all.

Alibaba.com – B2B marketplace

Wholesale rather than retail: minimum order quantities, supplier messaging and order protection programmes. There is often no single buy-now price, which surprises people who arrive here expecting a shop.B2B

AliExpress

Retail orders shipped mainly by overseas sellers. Delivery window, import charges and who acts as the importer of record matter more than the headline price.cross-border

AliExpress – Shopping App

The archive’s second AliExpress page, under the marketplace’s longer listing title. Same product as the entry above.duplicate listing

eBay online shopping & selling

Both directions of a marketplace in one app: auctions and fixed-price buying, plus listing, shipping and seller payouts. Buyer protection generally requires paying through the platform rather than off it.buy and sell

Etsy

Handmade, vintage and craft supplies, with digital downloads as a large share of listings. Terms are set seller by seller, so customisation and return rules genuinely differ between shops.seller-set terms

Etsy: A Special Marketplace

Dlzer’s second page for the same marketplace, kept because it was written independently and carries a different set of screenshots.duplicate listing

Temu

Direct-from-manufacturer retail with aggressive discounting and delivery times to match. The gamified layers are marketing, and the real decision is whether you accept the lead time and the returns friction.long lead time

Amazon Shopping

The storefront, order history and package tracking attached to an account. Membership benefits appear inside the app rather than as a separate product, which is why it doubles as a delivery tracker.membership tie

Section 5

Buying from a stranger nearby, and ordering dinner

5 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

Local classifieds are the highest-stakes shopping on this page because there is usually no one to call afterwards. Some platforms now insert a payment and label layer between strangers; others are a noticeboard with messaging. We say which model each entry uses, since that determines whether a bad transaction is your problem or theirs.

One entry here has a deliberately generic name, which is how people end up with the wrong app. It is included because readers search for it, and flagged because readers also install it by mistake.

craigslist

Plain-text local classifieds with no escrow, no seller verification and no dispute desk. The standard advice still applies: meet in public, inspect before paying, and pay in person.no protection layer

OfferUp

Local listings with in-app messaging, and shipping with payment protection in some categories. The protection only exists if the transaction stays inside the app.partial protection

Poshmark

Resale organised around a wardrobe rather than a garage sale: the platform issues a paid shipping label and takes a cut of the sale, which changes the arithmetic on cheap items.fees on sale

Marketplace

An app titled simply Marketplace, published under a generic developer name. That combination is exactly how people install the wrong thing, so our page states which product it describes before anything else.generic name

Domino’s Pizza

Ordering with an order tracker and saved favourites. Which shop receives the order depends on the address on the account, so travelling is when people discover this.address-bound

Section 6

Membership warehouses and the pet-supply repeat purchase

4 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

The two warehouse apps are mostly a digital copy of a card, a coupon sheet and a curbside pickup flow. Their value is contingent on a paid membership you already hold, which is the honest way to describe them.

The recurring-delivery model works differently: it is built around the assumption that you will buy the same consumables every month, and the retailer own fulfilment network is what makes the delivery promise specific.

BJ’s Wholesale Club

Membership warehouse shopping where the app is simultaneously your card, your coupon list and your curbside channel.membership

Costco Wholesale

The same warehouse model: item availability and price shown for your club, with membership checked at the door rather than in the app.membership

Chewy

Pet supplies with recurring delivery and fulfilment from the retailer’s own network, which is why the delivery promise is unusually specific for this category.auto-ship

Chewy: Pet Shopping & Delivery

Dlzer’s second page for the same retailer under its longer store title.duplicate listing

Section 7

Payment and banking apps, where the product is usually credit or a deposit account

6 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

Three distinct financial products appear in this group and they are routinely confused. Instalment credit at checkout is borrowing. A balance held in a wallet is a payment instrument, not a bank account. A fee-free current account with early direct deposit is a deposit account provided through a chartered partner bank.

The differences decide what happens when something goes wrong: who investigates a dispute, whether a missed instalment costs you a fee, and whether your money is covered by deposit insurance. We describe each entry by which of those three it actually is.

Afterpay

Instalment credit presented at checkout across a merchant network. It is credit, so missed instalments carry fees, and the schedule is the thing to read before the first tap.instalment credit

Afterpay: Pay over time

The second Afterpay listing in the archive, published under the store’s longer title.duplicate listing

Chime – Mobile Banking

A no-monthly-fee checking and savings account with early direct deposit and a spending view, provided through partner banks rather than as a chartered bank itself.partner bank

PayPal Business

The seller side of the same wallet: invoices, merchant fee rates and a balance that can be spent or withdrawn. Mixing personal and business activity in one balance is the most common complaint.seller account

PayPal POS (ex Zettle)

Point-of-sale for a stall, salon or shop floor: card reader, till, stock and daily settlement, under the rebranded name. Card-reader hardware is a separate purchase.hardware sold separately

Venmo

Person-to-person payments with a social feed attached to each transfer, and a bank-like balance. The feed privacy setting is the detail people change after the first awkward payment description.payouts service

Section 8

Getting around: navigation, fuel prices and the two sides of a ride app

5 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

A navigation app trades location history for accuracy, and that trade is the review. Fuel prices are crowd-submitted, which makes them excellent in dense areas and stale in empty ones. Ride-hailing appears here twice because the rider app and the driver app are separate products with opposite needs, and readers keep confusing them.

GasBuddy

Fuel prices submitted by drivers and shown on a map. It is only as good as how recently someone filled up near you, which is a real advantage in cities and a real weakness on open road.crowd-sourced prices

Google Maps

Navigation, transit durations, business listings and reviews. The two decisions inside it are whether to download offline maps and how much of your history the account keeps.account tie

Lyft Driver

The counterpart app for people driving: availability, earnings and heat maps. It is not the app you use to request a ride, which is a frequent search mistake.driver side

Uber

The rider app: trips in some markets, plus food and parcel delivery under the same account and payment method.multi-service

Uber – Driver: Drive & Deliver

The driver and courier side of the same platform: offered trips or deliveries, online time and payout tracking. Acceptance and cancellation patterns affect what you are offered.driver side

Section 9

Travel and reviews: what an airline app does that email cannot

3 listings · last reviewed 14 October 2026

Airline and hotel apps earn their place during disruption: rebooking, gate changes, baggage status and a boarding pass that survives bad reception. None of that is visible in a marketing screenshot, so it is what we describe.

Review platforms are worth reading as distributions rather than as verdicts, and the business-facing app belongs to the owner of a listing rather than to the person choosing dinner.

Fly Delta

Airline app: booking, check-in, boarding pass, flight status and baggage tracking tied to a ticket. It earns its install size during a delay, not during a normal trip.airline account

Tripadvisor

Accommodation and restaurant listings with review volume. The signal worth reading is the pattern across dates and trip types, not any single five-star or one-star entry.review volume

Yelp for Business

The owner-facing side of a review platform: claim the listing, reply, edit hours, watch traffic. If you only want to read reviews, this is the wrong install.business side

Section 10

Which of these you actually need on your phone

Most people install four of these and need one. Answer the question that matches your situation and skip the rest.

Which of these you actually need on your phone
What you are doing Install Why
Weekly shop you will collect yourself Walmart or Target The pickup code and the returns label are the value; the catalogue is not.
Buying something expensive that must be in stock nearby Best Buy or Academy Both show store-level availability, which is the only part the website makes hard.
Tracking parcels from many small brands Shop It aggregates orders; it does not help if your sellers are on one big marketplace.
Clothing where fit is uncertain Read the size notes, not the app No app fixes a supplier that runs small; the reviews carry more signal than the screenshots.
Ordering direct from manufacturers overseas AliExpress or Temu, knowingly Accept the lead time and the returns friction before comparing prices.
Sourcing in quantity for a business Alibaba dot com Minimum order quantities and negotiated pricing are the whole product.
Selling something to a neighbour OfferUp or Craigslist One inserts a payment and label layer; the other is a noticeboard. Choose accordingly.
Reselling clothes at volume Poshmark The platform label and commission change the profit on cheap items.
Paying for a big basket in instalments Afterpay, once you have read the schedule It is credit. The fees are the business model.
Replacing a current account Chime, understanding the partner-bank structure Deposit cover and dispute handling come from the bank partner, not the app.
Running a card reader at a market stall PayPal point of sale Reader hardware is a separate purchase; settlement is daily.
Getting a taxi or delivering food for money The driver app, not the rider app They are different products with different logins.
Fuel on an unfamiliar route GasBuddy Fresh reports matter; the price is typed by another driver, not read from the pump.
Flying this month The airline app Boarding pass, gate change and bag status survive poor reception.
Choosing somewhere to eat while travelling Tripadvisor for the list, then the business’s own site Review platforms show a distribution; the operator shows the actual hours.

A general rule for this category: an app earns its place when it holds something you need at the moment of transaction — a pickup code, a boarding pass, a payment card, a live driver position. If the app only holds a catalogue, a mobile browser is equivalent and updates faster.

The second rule concerns credit. Anything that says pay later, split into instalments or get paid early is a financial product with terms. Read them once, at full price rather than at checkout.

Section 11

Terms used on this page, in plain words

Term What it means here
Importer of record Whoever is legally responsible for customs duty and clearance on an imported parcel. On many cross-border orders that is you, whether or not the checkout mentioned it.
Buyer protection A platform programme that may reimburse you if an order goes wrong. It is conditional, usually on paying and communicating inside the platform.
Instalment credit A short-term loan split into scheduled payments. Missing one generally costs a fee, and the merchant is still paid in full at the start.
Partner bank The chartered bank behind a financial app. Deposit insurance and dispute rights attach to it, not to the app brand.
Curbside pickup Collecting an online order from a parking bay. It requires a store that supports it, which is why two apps here look different by address.
Minimum order quantity The smallest lot a wholesale supplier will sell. It is the reason a business-to-business listing may show no single price.
Auto-ship A standing recurring order with a discount. Easy to start, and the cancellation path is the part people read late.
Store estate A retailer’s physical shops. When it changes, the app you installed under one brand may be fulfilled by another business.

Section 12

Questions readers ask about this category

Why do four apps appear twice on this page?

Because Dlzer has two pages for each of them. The archive grew before we had any deduplication rule, and the “duplicate” pages were written under different store titles, so they slipped through a title comparison. Merging them means one of the two URLs disappears. This hub keeps both visible and labels them until that decision is made properly.

Do you earn commission when someone installs one of these?

No. There is no affiliate link on this page and no listing was sold. We describe the transaction structure, including the parts that make a purchase less attractive.

Which of these apps handle money rather than goods?

The payments group: instalment plans at checkout, a wallet balance, a point-of-sale tool, a person-to-person transfer service and a deposit account. They are five different products, and only some of them are covered by deposit protection.

Why is a pizza ordering app filed under local trading?

Because the practical constraint is the same as a classifieds transaction: you are dealing with a specific branch at a specific address, and the account address decides who receives the order. Grouping by that constraint is more useful than a generic food category.

Are the download and rating figures on your listing pages current?

They are the values the store was publishing when that page was checked, with the date stated on the page. Store figures move, so the honest reading is a snapshot with a timestamp rather than a live number.

Should I trust a five-star review here or there?

Neither. Read the distribution across dates and trip or order types. A single enthusiastic review tells you about one transaction; a wall of one-star reviews dated after a store takeover tells you something structural.

Corrections and change log

We log what we got wrong, because an unlabelled rewrite is not a correction.

14 October 2026
Page published with 43 listings across 8 sub-topics. Four duplicate-app pairs inside this hub are labelled as such rather than merged.
Editorial note
A first pass of this hub inherited two misfiled entries from an automated classifier, including a supermarket listed under visual content. Those were moved by hand before publication, which is why the category copy names the constraint rather than the keyword.
